  1. All right...its the moment you've all been waiting for...the beta version of
  2. WebView 2.1i.  The 'i' stands for "internet", because now you can get on the
  3. 'Net with this version of WebView.
  4.  
  5. Since Beta Release 1, I've done the following:
  6.  
  7. Release 2  (June 23, 1997)
  8. ---------
  9. Pulled some routines out of a really big loop, so Amos stopped getting as angry
  10. at me.  8^)
  11. Stopped using AMAL, because it would blank the mouse and leave it near unusable
  12. in Amos.  Now, the animations will flip frames whenever the graph changes.
  13. Various other optimizations.
  14. Added a real Installer script.

  16. I really shouldn't have to write a long winded manual (I don't want to
  17. either...).  Here is what you have to do to install it...
  18.  
  19. 1.  Run the WebView_Install Installer script
  20. 2.  Edit the Preferences File
  21.  
  22. Editing the preferences file is easy.  Its put into Envarc:webview.prefs.  
  23. You just need a text editor (Ed will be fine).  Here is what it'll look 
  24. like, and what you put in where...

  46. The first eight lines are the WebCleaner fonts, done by Andrew Graham.  You can
  47. change these to any fonts you wish, in the format <fontname>.font/size.  The
  48. next three are Default Paper color, Text color, and Link color.  Then, if the
  49. next line is LACED, WebView will be interlaced.  DON'T DO THIS ON OS3.1!  The
  50. next line is the Start Page, then SMTP server, SMTP Domain, and EMail address.
  51. The last two are Cache Drawer and (not working yet) Default Save Drawer.

  53. Why no snazzy interface?  I have one done, its just that the driver for
  54. Intuition Interfaces for Amos doesn't like it too well.  Its really good,
  55. though.  When it works.

  57. Then, just start up WebView.  You don't need to be connected to the 'Net to use
  58. it...remember, it used to be an offline page viewer.  The buttons and areas on
  59. the screen are easy:

  61. Title Bar        Moves WebView back and Intuition forward
  62. Buttons:
  63.   First        Load a Local Page
  64.   Second        Reload the Current Page
  65.   Third        Quit WebView
  66.   Fourth        Access History/Cache Pages
  67.   Fifth        Save current page
  68. Memory Gauges    Type in a destination address
  69. Slider on the
  70.   Right        Look up/down page
  71. Zoom Gad on
  72.   Bottom        Change to non/interlaced

  74. If you do want to get on the 'Net, though, I'd be careful.  WebView is buggy
  75. buggy buggy when on the 'Net.  Forms work, though.  That's good.  Well, enjoy!
